ANOMALITH trailer breakdown: announcement and system video

Table of Contents

ANOMALITH has two official videos worth your time before launch, and they do different jobs. The Steam page hosts a short cinematic announcement trailer — listed as "General / Cinematic Announcement trailer_EN" and running about 1:30 — that sells tone and premise. A longer five-minute "System" trailer, covered by Gematsu in September 2026 in both English and Japanese, is the one that actually explains how the game plays. If you want mechanics rather than mood, start with the second.

The announcement trailer is largely music-led. The YouTube upload carries an auto-transcript with music cues and a single interjection, so don't expect a narrator to walk you through systems — that job belongs to the longer video.

ANOMALITH What the footage establishes

What the footage establishes

It is a survival third-person shooter, not a pure horror walk. The official description frames it as a survival third-person shooter set in Japan with liminal-space and Showa-era retro styling. Combat is ranged first: you keep distance, punish erratic enemy movement, and then close in. Gematsu's writeup of the system trailer describes staggering an enemy with gunfire and finishing it in melee, with ammunition discipline treated as the core pressure.

Anomaly Zones warp the rules. The system trailer shows environments that break physics — an apartment where gravity runs the wrong way, a train that never arrives anywhere. These are the spaces you fight in, so positioning matters as much as aim.

Reona steals abilities from the things she kills. The Demi-Humanization System lets her take active and passive abilities off anomalies and upgrade them, which is where build identity comes from. Alongside it sit Anomalization Skills — offensive and defensive tools used to control a fight.

Gear comes from what you carry out. Anomalous Objects retrieved during a dive are turned into weapon and armour upgrades at the base. Cosmetics are explicitly decoupled: the Steam page states appearance can be changed without touching stats. Gematsu puts the wardrobe at more than 300 items spread across nine body parts, and the collectible investigation reports at more than 200.

The loop in three words

The Steam page names the structure directly: Dive, Retrieve, Return. Drop into a zone, decide what is worth carrying while watching ammo, then reach extraction before the environment turns on you. The system trailer's framing is that greed is the failure mode — the longer you linger for salvage, the worse your odds of getting out.

Cast and creative team

Both the Steam page and the system trailer coverage agree on the roster and the voice cast:

CharacterVoice actorRole
Reona MinazukiHitomi Ueda17-year-old Diver searching for her missing friend
Arisa KatoNatsumi HaruseReona's best friend, lost in the mall anomalization
Yuiga KodaRiho SugiyamaOperator supporting Reona during dives
Kyoka SudoKeiko WatanabeFounder and chief of the Countermeasures Office
Imari FushimiShion WakayamaHead of research; builds gear from anomalous objects
May HibiyaHikari KubotaHead of security, formerly an elite Diver
Kaede MoriNatsumi FujiwaraMysterious figure met on a dive
The mute girlUncreditedSurvivor of the mall incident

Scenario is by Romeo Tanaka, character design by MON, and the score by Yuka Kitamura. FuRyu publishes; Winning Entertainment Group develops — Gematsu notes the studio was formerly Natsume Atari.

One lore detail to hold loosely: the Steam page dates the setting to "20██" and describes Reona becoming a Diver after the mall incident, while Gematsu's system-trailer summary uses the year "19**" and a ten-year awakening inside a structure called the Sarcophagus. Both trace back to publisher material, so treat the exact year and backstory framing as unsettled until launch.

ANOMALITH Release, platforms, editions

Release, platforms, editions

The Steam page lists October 28, 2026 as the release date and names Windows as its platform. Gematsu's September article gives October 29 and lists PC via Steam, PlayStation 5 and Switch 2. The one-day gap most likely reflects time zones between the store listing and the press release, though neither page says so. The official Steam page does not list a price as of 2026-10-22.

According to anomalith-wiki.wiki, the standard edition is $49.99 and a Digital Deluxe edition $69.99 — community figures, not confirmed on the store page. What the Steam page does confirm is the Deluxe contents: an 80-page digital art book, a digital mini-soundtrack selection, the "Armed Schoolgirl" outfit triple combo (three sets, two colour variants), three bonus weapons (semi-automatic sniper rifle, double-barrelled shotgun, prototype handgun), and a consumables pack of 3 × medium sedative, 3,000 OV, 30 sniper rounds, 30 shotgun shells, 40 handgun rounds and a Shooting Chip [Power +].

The demo is the better teacher

A playable demo sits on the Steam page and ran through Steam Next Fest in October 2026. Two updates are worth knowing about: the 29 September patch added a "Survival" difficulty, mouse support across menus and inventory, broader key rebinding, mouse sensitivity options and shortcut use for healing items; the 7 October patch made clearing the demo unlock one of the three Armed Schoolgirl outfit sets. The 14 October wishlist post reported over 50,000 demo sessions across three platforms and more than 50,000 defeats of a boss named Bleicher Geist. By 20 October the game had passed 120,000 Steam wishlists, and a crossover with the cyberpunk immersive sim Peripeteia was announced.

If the game runs poorly, the store page's stated minimums are Windows 11, an i5-6600 or Ryzen 5 2600, 12 GB of RAM, a GTX 1050 Ti or RX 5500 XT and 40 GB of space — worth checking before you blame the demo build. Steam Deck compatibility is marked unknown on the listing.

Yes. FuRyu released a roughly five-minute systems trailer in early September 2026, with English and Japanese versions, embedded in Gematsu's coverage.

When does ANOMALITH release?

The Steam page gives October 28, 2026; Gematsu's September article gives October 29 for PC, PS5 and Switch 2. Check the store page near launch for your region's unlock time.
