ANOMALITH Gameplay: Dives, Combat, and Progression
A practical tour of ANOMALITH gameplay: the dive-and-extract loop, firearms and Anomalization Skills, nine equipment slots, and PC specs.

Table of Contents
ANOMALITH is a single-player third-person survival shooter where each mission is a trip into a warped "Anomaly Zone": you go in armed with firearms and supernatural Anomalization Skills, fight or avoid the creatures called Anomalies, pick up anomalous objects and artifacts, and carry them back out to the Countermeasures Office, where they become weapons, gear, and upgrades. The official Steam page sums the rhythm up as "Dive, Retrieve, Return."
What follows is a systems-level tour of what you actually do during a dive — the loop, the combat tools, the progression sinks, and what early hands-on coverage says about how it feels. It is not a mission-by-mission walkthrough.
The dive loop, stage by stage
The Steam listing sets three jobs for every excursion: manage ammunition, choose carefully what you carry out, and reach extraction. Trailer coverage adds a scouting layer on top of that.
| Stage | What you are doing | What tends to go wrong |
|---|---|---|
| Approach | Reading the zone's layout, spotting where the exit route runs, deciding whether a group of Anomalies is worth engaging | Committing to a fight with no fallback path |
| Retrieval | Scanning for anomalous objects, breaking crystalline growths off Anomalies for artifacts, deciding what fills your carry space | Overfilling on low-value material and having to abandon the good finds |
| Extraction | Walking the haul back to the exit while still under pressure | Getting cornered in a dead end on the way out |
A fan-written guide at anomalith-wiki.wiki frames a failed extraction as risking the material you picked up that run, and advises planning the escape route before you pick a fight. Treat that as community framing rather than a confirmed penalty system — a reviewer's account (below) found failure considerably softer than that implies.

Combat: firearms carry the fight, skills change it
The official gameplay overview trailer describes Reona's arsenal as firearms only — handguns, submachine guns, and shotguns — with each gun customizable to taste. Bare hands and ordinary blades do nothing to Anomalies; melee becomes available only in specific conditions, such as when a target is staggered, and normally deals no meaningful damage. That makes ammunition the real currency of a dive.
Three weapon names appear directly on the Steam page as Digital Deluxe Edition extras, which confirms they exist in the game: the Prototype Handgun, the Double-Barreled Shotgun, and the Semi-Automatic Sniper Rifle. The fan guide linked above assigns them familiar roles — the handgun as an ammo-cheap fallback for scattered small threats, the shotgun as burst damage against things that close fast, the sniper rifle as long-range single-target removal. Those role descriptions are the wiki's reading, not a published stat sheet.
Anomalization Skills are Reona's supernatural half of the kit. The trailer narration divides them into attack, defense, and range categories, with nine distinct skills confirmed, and notes they can be upgraded with anomalous objects — which also raises her health and the energy needed to fire them. A separate "anomalous unleash" state is described as a tide-turner. A hands-on review from Noisy Pixel reports that the skill set runs on MP and that MP is refilled by shooting enemies, which makes gunplay and powers feed each other on paper; the same review found that synergy underused, with melee mostly serving as a panic button and one strong gun carrying most encounters.
Artifacts are the other combat modifier: crystalline structures on an Anomaly's surface can be destroyed to harvest them, and they grant passive effects when equipped to a weapon or to Reona before deployment. The trailer notes they need precise aim to obtain, which is why they are worth the detour.
Progression: everything you carry out has a home
Recovered anomalous objects feed the Countermeasures Office's development pipeline, run by research head Imari Fushimi. The trailer and the publisher's GoNintendo-featured trailer write-up give a sense of the scale:
| System | Scale described |
|---|---|
| Equipment development slots | Nine, covering defense and resource-gathering efficiency |
| Anomalization Skills | Nine skills across attack, defense, and range |
| Cosmetic items | More than 300, spread across nine parts of Reona's figure |
| Investigation reports | More than 200 field files on Anomalies and objects |
Two practical notes from the trailer: prioritize early equipment upgrades because they affect both survivability and how much you bring home, and appearance is decoupled from stats — you can change how Reona and her gear look while keeping the numbers underneath. The Steam page states the same thing in its own words, so outfit choice is genuinely free rather than a trade-off.
Side content lives on a board in the Workshop. The Steam page's early-purchase offer confirms this directly: the Lost Property Control Organization crossover mission "Contradictory Otherworld Response" is accepted from that board, and side missions unlock as you progress. That offer also lists concrete material names — Linked Tiles, Advanced Surreal Firearm Parts, Warning Pagers — plus a Shooting Chip with a Power bonus and a stack of Sedatives, which is a decent preview of the vocabulary the upgrade menus use. The window for those bonuses is 29 October to 11 November 2026 (JST).

The zones themselves
Anomaly Zones are liminal Japanese spaces bent out of shape: the publisher's material names an apartment where gravity is inverted and a train that never arrives anywhere. IGN's game page lists the setting as Showa-era retro with liminal-space atmosphere, and Steam's user tags lean on 1980s, surreal, psychological horror, and extraction shooter. The fan wiki at anomalith-wiki.wiki additionally describes streets suspended over voids and connected by shifting fracture points; that specific image is theirs, so take it as flavor rather than a confirmed level list.
Noisy Pixel's review is the most useful counterweight to the marketing. It puts the campaign at roughly 16 to 20 hours, praises the environment art and Japanese voice work, and argues the survival layer is thin: material gathering mostly means filling storage and shipping it back through a portal, storage pressure rarely forces hard choices, and retries drop you back close to where you fell. It also notes that abilities unlocked later in the story open routes in earlier zones, so backtracking is best saved for the late game. Score given: 6 out of 10.
Release, platforms, and PC specs
The Steam page lists a Windows release on 28 October 2026, developed by FURYU CORPORATION and Winning Entertainment Group Inc. and published by FURYU. GoNintendo's 30 June 2026 trailer post reports a Nintendo Switch 2 release on 29 October 2026, with a $49.99 standard edition and a $69.99 Digital Deluxe edition; IGN lists 29 October 2026 for PC. The one-day gap between the Steam date and the others most likely reflects regional time zones rather than two different launches. Steam Deck compatibility is marked "Unknown" on the store page as of 22 October 2026.

|---|---|---|
| OS | Windows 11 (64-bit) | Windows 11 (64-bit) |

The Steam build supports single-player, achievements, cloud saves, leaderboards, full controller support (DualSense over USB only), and adjustable difficulty, with subtitle and text-size options. A playable demo is available from the store page, and demo patches on 29 September and 7 October 2026 added a Survival difficulty, mouse support for menus and inventory, expanded key rebinding, mouse sensitivity, healing-item shortcuts, and — after clearing the demo — development of one of the three "Armed Schoolgirl" outfit sets.

FAQ
What is ANOMALITH gameplay actually about?
Repeating dives into Anomaly Zones to fight or evade Anomalies, harvest anomalous objects and artifacts, and reach extraction so the haul can be turned into weapons, equipment, and skill upgrades back at the Countermeasures Office. The Steam page condenses it to "Dive, Retrieve, Return," and the loop is tuned for a single player following Reona's search for her missing friend.
Is ANOMALITH single-player?
Yes — the Steam page lists single-player as the only play mode, alongside achievements, cloud saves, and leaderboards. There is no co-op or competitive mode described in the publisher's material.
Can I try the gameplay before buying?
A demo is downloadable from the Steam page, and the developer used Steam Next Fest in October 2026 as the final pre-release showcase. The 14 October 2026 wishlist announcement notes the demo has passed 50,000 qualifying play sessions across three platforms and that its boss, Bleicher Geist, has been defeated more than 50,000 times.
Do outfits change my stats?
No. The Steam page states appearance can be changed without affecting stats, and the trailer narration repeats that equipment can be re-skinned while keeping its base values — so the 300-plus cosmetic pieces are a style choice, not a build decision.
